Driving demands concentration, yet most drivers tend to multi-task behind the wheel. One of the common tasks that drivers do is talking on the mobile phone. Below are some tips to keep roads a lot safer for you and other road users.
 
Keep your calls simple
Make your calls quick and try not to get into very long conversations. Be sure that you are not so wrapped up in a conversation until you drift into the other lane. Make it clear to the other party that you are driving while talking on the mobile phone and hence, may need to interrupt the call. Also, avoid conversations that require note taking or complex thought while driving.

Make sure your mobile phone is easily accessible
Put your mobile phone close to your line of vision and within comfortable reach. By doing do, you can see who's calling you and not have to look for it desperately when it rings.
 
Familiarise yourself with your mobile phone
Learn how to operate your mobile phone. Nowadays, innovative mobile phones have been designed to allow easy and comfortable usage. Familiarise yourself with every features and functions of your mobile phone, especially making and receiving calls. If possible, memorise the location of the phone controls, so you can easily control the phone without taking your eyes off the road.
 
Be cautious while driving
When you use a mobile phone while driving you should behave as responsibly as possible. Pull over to a parking lot or anywhere safe to make or answer a call. Let the other party know when you need to concentrate in making difficult driving maneuvers such as heading an intersection or entering a highway. Be prepared for unsafe actions and poor driving conditions of other motorists on the road.
