GUARANTEED ADMISSION

1.
What is the procedure if I have a guaranteed admission plan?

There are several steps to follow as below:

i.
Present the medical card to the panel hospital and the hospital will call Kurnia Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad (KIMB) call centre (Tel. no. 03-7876 9988) for verification.
ii.
You and treating doctor will be required to complete the necessary admission form and the hospital staff will fax it to KIMB for processing of admission.
iii.
If the diagnosis is a covered condition, a Guarantee Letter will be issued to the panel hospital.
iv.
HQ Medical Insurance Department will issue a Guarantee Letter to the hospital for a covered condition.
v.
Upon discharge, hospital will fax the discharge documents and bills to KIMB, and KIMB will revert on the payment advice.

  Note:

1.
If the diagnosis is an excluded condition, you may be required to pay deposit and settle the remaining payment upon discharge.
2.
For admission at non-panel hospital, you may be required to settle in full hospital bill and file claim.
3.
Admission and discharge is handled by HQ Medical Insurance Department from Monday to Friday (8.30am-7.30pm), Saturday (9am-2pm), Sunday/Public Holiday, we have prior arrangement with all our panel hospital.

2.
What will happen if I present the medical card in order to get admitted to the hospital during midnight?

The hospital will admit the patient first after confirming with our call centre of the validity of the insurance. On the next morning, Medical Insurance Department will liaise with the hospital on Guarantee Letter for a covered condition.

3. Is deposit required for admission into panel hospitals?

If Guarantee Letter is issued by KIMB, normally no deposit is required. However, a small number of hospitals may require a minimal deposit to cover non-payable items or for cases pending for Guarantee Letter.

4.
Will panel hospitals accept my medical card as a deposit for admission?

The medical card will not be accepted as an automatic deposit for admission as it is not a form of credit card. The medical card is used to facilitate the arrangement of guaranteed admission at panel hospitals only.

5.
Is the medical card sent directly to me?

Yes. For individual policy, the medical card will be sent to you directly whereas for group policy, the medical card will be sent to the agent/branch to be distributed to you or other arrangement as agreed.

6. Can the medical card be used overseas?

No, you are unable to use the medical card overseas as the medical card is only applicable to KIMB panel hospitals in Malaysia. For any medical expenses incurred overseas, you will need to settle the full bill and file in a claim with KIMB for consideration.

7.
Under what circumstances that you need to settle your own bill?

There are several reasons that you may need to settle your own bill first, such as but not limited to:

i..
Exclusions, i.e. pre-existing illness, specified illness, qualifying period (waiting period) etc.
ii..
Admission to non-panel hospitals.
iii.

8.
If a Guarantee Letter has been issued, do I still need to pay upon discharge?

The Guarantee Letter will cover your medical expenses up to your eligible limits according to the policy terms and conditions. You may be required to pay the excess charges that are not covered under the policy benefits such as telephone charges, extra meals, purchase of aid equipment, etc. Certain hospital might collect a minimal deposit at the time of admission to cover for these non-payable items. Any excess of this deposit after deducting the non-payable expenses will be refunded during discharge.
