UPGRADE / CONVERSION / TAKE-OVER POLICIES

1.
Can I upgrade the plan?

Yes, you can. However, application for change to a higher plan can only be made on renewal and is subject to acceptance by Kurnia Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad (KIMB). Any request to upgrade will be subjected to the terms and conditions set by KIMB including Upgraded Policies clause. You are required to complete an upgrading request form for our assessment.

2.
If I am an existing Kurnia medical policyholder, upon renewal and transfer to new medical plan, do I need to fill in proposal form?

Yes, this is to ease our process and at the same time we are able to know what type of plan you have selected.

3. Can I change from Reimbursement plan to Guaranteed Admission plan?

You can apply to change plan on renewal and is subject to acceptance by KIMB. The Conversion Policies clause will apply when there is a change of plan.

4.
If I convert the existing policy to the new product upon renewal, will it be considered as renewal case or new case?

Conversion from existing medical plan to new medical plan will be considered as renewal case as long as policy is not lapsed. However, the new plan must have similar Overall Annual Limit, as a matter of fact claims under existing policy shall be deducted from the Lifetime Limit of the new policy.

5.
Will there be any "take-over policy" allowed from other insurance company?

Yes, we can consider. There is a form to be completed for our consideration. Take-over policy is not automatic and is subjected to the claims experience and on condition policy has been in force for more than 12 months and has not lapsed.

6. What is the procedure if I request for a take-over policy?

You will have to complete and submit the following forms and documents to us for our assessment.

i.
Proposal form
ii.
Supplementary Questionnaire for Take-Over policy
iii.
Full set of preceding or expiring medical policy (including policy schedule, benefit schedule, policy wordings, endorsement, etc.)
iv.
For life policy, proof of last premium payment must be submitted to show if policy is still in force

Note: All the above forms and documents must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to policy expiry to avoid delay in underwriting process. i.e. incomplete forms and documents, which may lead to lapsation of applicant's current policy.

7.
Is it compulsory for take-over policy from others insurer to fill in KIMB Proposal Form?

Yes, and this cannot be waived.

8.
Is Waiting Period applicable in take-over policy?

Waiting Period will be waived.

9.
For take-over policy, will the Pre-Existing illness clause be waived?

No, only the Waiting Period and Specified Illnesses can be waived.

10.
If there is a condition or exclusion imposed in the existing policy, will the condition be imposed in the new policy when I upgrade the policy?

Yes, the condition or exclusion will be imposed in the new policy.

11. What is "Take Over Policies"?

If the policy shall have commenced immediately upon termination of a preceding policy and if you shall have been afflicted with a medical disability prior or at the time this policy started (and benefits under the preceding policy would have been available to you), you shall continue to be covered for the existing disability, but not to exceed the limits of the previous policy on condition the Company has secured a copy of the preceding policy.
