In Kurnia Call Center, there has been numerous distress calls received requesting for assistance. In order to equip our operators so that they are more competent, an in-house training on common types of breakdown was conducted. You will find the following information useful when you encounter breakdown when driving. Always remember, to pull your vehicle to the emergency lane and activate your hazard lights to caution the other road users.


The common breakdowns are...
1. Flat tyre
  To check on leakage, any burst tyre and cracked or damaged tyre rim. Any special sports rim used. Is the spare tyre in order.
 
2. Engine cannot be started
  Possible cause is defective fuel system, alternator problem, damage timing belt or defective electrical system or low on fuel. All these can be repaired or replaced.
 
3. Engine will not crank
  a) possible cause is a run down battery, transmission not in 'N' or 'P' position, loose or open starting circuit, starter motor is jammed or engine jammed.
b) other possible cause is defective ignition, air leak into intake manifold or defect in engine
 
4. Overheating of engine
  To check the level of water coolant reservoir or any water leakages, loose drive belt for water pump, defective radiator pressure cap or radiator, air-condenser obstructed, thermostat stucked, defective motor fan, water pump or heat sensor.
 
5. Gear malfunction (manual transmission type)
  Shift shaft or interlock loose, clutch cable not adjusted properly, low lubricant level, loose or broken input shaft retainer, gearbox jammed, defective clutch disc.
 
6. Gear malfuction (auto transmission type)
  Shift shaft or interlock loose, low lubricant level, gearbox jammed, defective torque converter clutch, and defective valve body.
 
7. Driveshaft & other suspension broken or damaged
  Under normal condition parts broken or spoilt are due to wear & tear.
 
8. Others
  Brake jammed, torn or timing belt slip etc, under normal condition, these parts are due to wear and tear, can be repaired or replaced.
