Golf. The word golf brings images of greenery, fresh air & relaxation to the mind.

Unless of course, you think about the multiple things that could go wrong with rogue buggies and misguided golf balls coming your way. Ironic as it seems, golf can be a pretty dangerous game to play if you really think about it.

"Golf insurance will also cover for theft, loss or damage to your equipment"

The subject of discussion here today is: if you play golf regularly, you better think about purchasing golfer's insurance. All sorts of accidents and mishaps can happen on a golf course, which include plenty of freak ones that one never thought possible. Accidents that do happen however are not limited to only the player, but to his or her caddy, personal documents or property, the buggy in use, & bodily injury to members of the public. There is one good thing however: some insurers will bestow a cash reward if you net a hole-in-one during competition, meaning you needn't the foot the clubhouse drinks or food bill.

We have all at some stage been required to shout "fore" to avoid disaster, having been totally oblivious to the financial consequences of our actions. We no longer need to be inadequately covered as there are a host of insurance companies offering golfers suitable financial protection. Golf insurance will also cover for theft, loss or damage to your equipment. By way of the cover, you are financially protected if you severely damage property or seriously injure another person during competition or practice.

Buying golfer's insurance may also be a good time to find out whether your golf clubs are insured. Ask if your clubs need to be a named product on your golfer's insurance and, what circumstances is it covered under? It is important to find out more as these are the questions most of us leave out- ironic considering that most golf equipment goes missing in club car parks and in changing rooms compared to anywhere else. Your golf clubs, nine times out of ten, will not be insured to cover loss or damage, so a visit to insurance companies should enlighten you more on golfer's insurance.

Buggies on the other hand, provide convenience that many golfers cannot do without. If handled improperly, these seemingly harmless vehicles can cause serious injury and accidents- both personally and to the course. Besides straying eyes and collisions, another common golf-related accident is the failure of the buggy to come to a complete stop. Skidding occurs when one attempts to negotiate a sharp bend or when descending a slope. There have even been occasions when a golfer on the passenger side tries to drive the buggy. All in all, one does not need a license to drive a buggy.

While such freak accidents are not life threatening, they can be (however slim the chance)- a fact, which golf course employees will concede. Surprisingly, however, millions of us who trudge the fairways week in week out are doing so insufficiently covered.
