Kurnia's Mounts Campaign To Draw More Motor Policy Holders
BERNAMA - Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Kurnia Insurans (Malaysia) Bhd expects the take up rate for its motor insurance policy to increase further with the introduction of its "One Touch" campaign.

Managing Director, K.H. Chia said the campaign requires policy holders to save the insurance firm's hotline number into their handphone's speed dial function and to call them in case of an emergency.

"Our policy holders are already on the increase. But with this, we defintely expect more," he told reporters after the launch of the campaign by Deputy Transport Minister, Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri here Thursday.

Chia said Kurnia currently has almost one million private car comprehensive insurance policy holders and garnered about 18 to 19 per cent of the market share.

"At present, for every five cars on the road, one is insured by Kunia Insurans. We soon hope that one in every four will be under us," he said.

Chia also disclosed that policy holders would also enjoy Kurnia Auto Assist (KAA) and Kurnia Express services when they sign up for a private car insurance policy with the company.

The KAA service protects and safe guards motor policy holders against breakdowns, which currently makes up 20 per cent of the total vehicle on the road.

"We have 12 KAA Riders who will go to the customers' aid within 15 minutes of receiving a call. We expect to introduce more riders in bigger cities like Johor Bahru, Ipoh and Penang soon," he said.

Chia said the insurance company also planned to expand its Kurnia Express touch points to 400 locations nationwide, next year, from 67 at present.

With the easy availability of the service, policy holders can make immediate claims, in cash, in the event of an accident.

"The investment on the touch points are not much. We are just installing video cameras that captures the car's image to be sent back to the headquarters, where we will assess the claim."

"This will cut down the hassle of processing claims," he said.

Speaking at the same press conference, Abdul Rahim said the auto insurance business in Malaysia is on the rise as more cars are registered annually.

"The economic slowdown has not affected the motor insurance business as every vehicle needs to be insured in order to obtain road tax".

"With easier access to car financing, there will be more cars registered in years to come. This business has tremendous potential," he said.
