KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's vehicle sales rose 25%
last month from a year earlier, the Malaysian Automotive Association
(MAA) said. The increase in petrol and diesel prices this month
will affect sales in June, it said.
Sales of cars, vans and sport utility vehicles
increased to 47,931 units in May from 38,327 vehicles in the same
month last year, MAA said in a statement yesterday.
Sales last month were 4.7% lower compared with
April because of "lower consumer confidence due to rising costs
and inflation,'' it said. - Bloomberg
