IPOH: The Perak Motor and Credit Association has
urged Puspakom to extend its approval certificate for transfer
of vehicle ownership from the present two weeks to a month.
Its chairman Datuk Cheng Yit Weng said the certificate
was only awarded by Puspakom for vehicles which passed its inspection.
"However, the certificate is only valid for
two weeks. By the time we are done with the hire purchase procedure,
the certificate will be invalid," he said Monday, adding that
the vehicle would need to undergo inspection again.
Speaking to reporters here after meeting Puspakom
Gopeng branch head Hamdan Shaharin to air the association's grouses,
Cheng explained that the certificate was needed to transfer vehicle
ownership.
Association members, Cheng noted, had received
a lot of brickbats from their customers on the need to reapply
the certificate once it expires.
Cheng noted that that the association had raised
the problem to the Transport Ministry through the Federation of
Motor and Credit Companies Association Malaysia last year but to
date, there had been no news.
