CVLB To Consider Applications After Bus Operators Settle Drivers' Summonses
BERNAMA - Monday, March 17th, 2008

MUAR, March 17 (Bernama) -- The Commercial Vehicle Licencing Board (CVLB) will only consider applications from express bus operators to increase, extend or shorten bus routes after they settle their drivers' summonses, CVLB chairman Datuk Markiman Kobiran said today.

He said the new measure was adopted by the CVLB following an agreement with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the police to streamline their action.

"Transport companies will be asked to settle their drivers' summonses first before we consider their applications.

"We will no longer set aside summonses from other enforcement agencies because they have gotten away with them," he told reporters after launching the double-decker bus service of Mayang Sari Express at the Bentayan Express Bus terminal at Jalan Maharani here.

He said that with the streamlining, the CVLB would no longer join integrated operations with other enforcement agencies.

On the introduction of e-ticketing at express bus counters, he said the service would be extended to the Internet for the benefit of foreign tourists.
